Size guide

Our pieces are Italian, and Italian clothing comes up smaller than French clothing. An Italian 40 corresponds to a French 36, in other words a size S. On a pair of jeans, the difference is felt straight away: take the time to check before ordering.

This conversion is a guide, not a rule. The same size does not wear the same way in a rigid raw denim and in a washed denim that has already given.

Denim, a special case

Raw denim does not stretch, or only very slightly. It must fit snugly from the first try-on. If it is tight in the fitting room, it will still be tight in six months.

Stretch denim gives by half a size with wear, usually at the waist and knees. If it fits perfectly at the first try-on, it will be a little loose after a few days. If in doubt, take the size below.

On wide cuts (balloon, wide leg, palazzo), the size is determined at the waistband, not at the thigh. The volume of the leg is drawn into the pattern; it does not depend on your figure.

How to take your measurements

Measure yourself in your underwear, with the tape measure flat against the body, without pulling it tight or holding your stomach in. Get someone to help you if you can: measurements taken on yourself are often inaccurate.

Waist: at the natural hollow, just above the navel. This is the measurement that decides the size of a pair of jeans.
Hips: at the widest point, about twenty centimetres below the waist.
Bust: at the fullest point, with the tape measure level across the back.
Inside leg: from the crotch to the bottom of the hem, along the inner leg. This is the usable length of a pair of trousers.
Rise: from the crotch to the waistband. This is what determines whether a pair of jeans is high-rise, regular or low-rise.

Between two sizes

On jeans in rigid denim, take the size above: a gaping waistband can be taken in, a waistband that is too tight cannot be put right.

On stretch jeans, take the size below.

On a knit or a loose shirt, take your usual size: the volume is part of the piece's design.

A waist with craftsmanship

These jeans are built from the top down. The waist is gathered, paperbag style, and drawn in by a woven belt with a geometric pattern finished with fringes, supplied with the trousers. The gathering creates a slight volume above the belt, then the denim falls straight over the hips. Concealed zip and button fastening.

The construction

Two large patch pockets on the front, cut from the denim and set right on the thigh. Two patch pockets at the back. Visible topstitching, seams that structure the leg and gradually taper it towards the ankle. It is a workwear construction, reworked as a city piece.

When to wear them

The kind of trousers you put on on a Saturday and keep on. With low-top trainers they stay honest and easy; with boots they gain character. The supplied belt saves you looking for one: it is the accessory in itself.

Fit and sizing

True to size. Available from XS to XL.

Measurements taken: leg opening 15 cm · outside leg length 91 cm, i.e. 30 cm all round at the hem, and a cut that stops above the ankle.

The gathered waist adjusts with the belt, which leaves some leeway: if you are between two sizes, the smaller one remains wearable.

Fabric and weave

92% cotton, 8% elastane. Coated blue denim, lightly patinated: the coating gives the fabric a smooth, almost satin-like surface and a depth of colour that raw denim does not have. The patina already lightens the raised areas (on the thighs, at the seams, along the stitching) and will continue to deepen with wear.

The 8% elastane provides real suppleness. Combined with the coating, it creates a fabric that is both firm and comfortable: the line of the seams holds, and the trousers do not bag at the knees.

Machine washable. Washing inside out preserves the coating and the patina.

Wear with

A fitted top or a tucked-in fine knit: a high waist deserves to be seen. Low-top trainers every day, flat-heeled boots to straighten the silhouette; the above-the-ankle length shows them off. The supplied belt can be swapped for a thin leather belt for a more understated version.
