Size guide

Our pieces are Italian, and Italian clothing comes up smaller than French clothing. An Italian 40 corresponds to a French 36, in other words a size S. On a pair of jeans, the difference is felt straight away: take the time to check before ordering.

Some styles go down to 3XS or up beyond XL: the sizes actually available are shown on the product page. A few knits are offered in one size.

This conversion is a guide, not a rule. The same size does not wear the same way in a rigid raw denim and in a washed denim that has already given.

Denim, a special case

Raw denim does not stretch, or only very slightly. It must fit snugly from the first try-on. If it is tight in the fitting room, it will still be tight in six months.

Stretch denim gives by half a size with wear, usually at the waist and knees. If it fits perfectly at the first try-on, it will be a little loose after a few days. If in doubt, take the size below.

On wide cuts (balloon, wide leg, palazzo), the size is determined at the waistband, not at the thigh. The volume of the leg is drawn into the pattern; it does not depend on your figure.

How to take your measurements

Measure yourself in your underwear, with the tape measure flat against the body, without pulling it tight or holding your stomach in. Get someone to help you if you can: measurements taken on yourself are often inaccurate.

Waist: at the natural hollow, just above the navel. This is the measurement that decides the size of a pair of jeans.
Hips: at the widest point, about twenty centimetres below the waist.
Bust: at the fullest point, with the tape measure level across the back.
Inside leg: from the crotch to the bottom of the hem, along the inner leg. This is the usable length of a pair of trousers.
Rise: from the crotch to the waistband. This is what determines whether a pair of jeans is high-rise, regular or low-rise.

Between two sizes

On jeans in rigid denim, take the size above: a gaping waistband can be taken in, a waistband that is too tight cannot be put right.

On stretch jeans, take the size below.

On a knit or a loose shirt, take your usual size: the volume is part of the piece's design.

A boxy, cropped cut

A cropped denim jacket with a decidedly geometric line: dropped shoulders, a straight body that stops at the waist, short, wide sleeves finished with a turn-up. Classic shirt collar, six-button fastening, two large patch pockets on the chest. Nothing is drawn in: no darts, no elastic, no low waistband. It is a shape that holds on its own.

Khaki changes everything

The yarn is dyed green before weaving, in a twill weave. The colour runs through the fabric instead of sitting on the surface: the result is matt and muted, without the bluish sheen of classic denim. The sleeve turn-ups reveal the lighter reverse side of the denim, which highlights the cut.

How to wear it

A jacket that goes over everything. Over a flowing dress in summer, over a fine knit in the mid-season, over a T-shirt on days when you don't want to think. The cropped length calls for high-rise bottoms underneath: that is where it looks its best, letting the silhouette breathe instead of cutting it.

Fit and sizing

True to size, take your usual size. Available from XS to XL.

Measurements taken on a size M: back length 47 cm · width under the arms 53 cm.

The 53 cm under the arms means a chest circumference of 106 cm: the cut is deliberately loose. If you prefer a less wide line, go down a size; the jacket remains wearable but will lose its oversized effect.

Fabric

99% cotton, 1% elastane. Green-dyed twill denim. The one per cent of elastane does not add stretch: it prevents the denim from losing its shape at the elbows and pockets. The fabric stays firm and holds the boxy cut over time.

Wear with

The matching palazzo culotte jeans, cut from the same dyed denim: together they form a structured khaki total look, short on top and very wide below. This is the pairing the jacket was designed for.

On its own, it can be worn over raw denim jeans, a long skirt or a dress. Underneath: a fine knit or a tucked-in T-shirt. Flat shoes, loafers or low-top trainers.
