Generous at the thigh, narrow at the ankle: balloon jeans create a rounded silhouette unlike any other. It is the most talked-about cut of the winter, and one of the easiest to wear.
What exactly is balloon?
A high rise, volume over the hips and thighs, then a leg that gradually narrows towards the ankle. Some call them barrel jeans.
On our styles, the hem opening measures 15 to 24 cm flat: the volume is at the thigh, not at the hem.
Why they suit so many figures
Because they add movement without widening. The waist stays defined, the ankle stays slim, and the volume sits in between. They balance pronounced hips as well as a very straight figure.
What to wear them with
A tucked-in top and a belt, to keep the waist visible. A loose blazer, for a more urban look. Pointed ankle boots, which lengthen the leg. And a fine roll-neck, which leaves all the attention to the cut.
Which wash to choose
Raw denim or a dark wash makes balloon jeans dressier: they go to the office effortlessly. A light wash accentuates the curves of the cut and is better suited to the weekend.
Try them on in the shop
Balloon jeans are judged in movement, sitting down as much as standing up. Come and compare them with our other cuts at 25 rue du Président Édouard Herriot, in Lyon.
