The suit left the office a long time ago. Worn whole or piece by piece, it carries you through an entire day without ever looking stiff. You still need to know how to wear it.
Why the suit has changed status
For years, it was associated with meetings and interviews. Today, the cuts have softened and so have the fabrics. A fluid crepe, a light cloth or a structured knit give you a suit that moves with you instead of holding you upright.
Above all, it is a piece that pays its way: a matching jacket and trousers make at least three outfits. The complete set, the jacket over jeans, the trousers with a knit.
The three looks that work
The fluid suit, tone on tone
A soft jacket, wide-leg trousers in the same colour, a top in the same family of shades. The silhouette lengthens in a single line. It is the easiest look to get right, and the most elegant.
The loose blazer
Slightly broader shoulders, mid-thigh length: it structures everything it covers. Over flared jeans or wide-leg jeans, it gives a relaxed look that stays sharp.
The tailored waistcoat
Worn on its own, buttoned, with pleated trousers, it replaces the top. Over a white shirt, it adds a line. It is the easiest piece to slip into a wardrobe that is not used to tailoring.
How to wear it every day
During the week, keep the complete set and play with your shoes: a loafer or a pointed ballet flat is enough.
At the weekend, split the pieces up. The jacket over raw denim jeans and a white T-shirt, the trousers with a fine knit and trainers.
In the evening, a fitted jacket over a satin top and a heel, even a low one. Nothing more.
Choosing the right size
A suit jacket is judged at the shoulders: the seam should fall exactly at the curve of the shoulder. Sleeves and trouser hems are easy to alter; shoulders never are. In the shop, we check these points with you before taking the alterations.
